Robert Fairchild

Robert joined MARCOM in April of 2016 after retiring from the U.S. Coast Guard as a Chief Warrant Officer. During his 25 year Coast Guard career, Robert served onboard two Coast Guard Cutters, the Coast Guard Marine Safety Laboratory, and five Coast Guard Marine Safety Offices. With 18 years’ experience in the Marine Safety field, Robert conducted safety and security inspections on over 190 bulk oil and chemical facilities in one of the largest U.S. ports implementing the Maritime Transportation and Security Act (MTSA) and International Ship Port Facility Security Code (ISPS). He conducted explosive handling supervisions and hazardous material intermodal container inspections, pollution investigations as federal on-scene coordinator and pollution investigator, port state control inspections on foreign freight and tank vessels, and performed construction oversight and regulatory inspections on over 500 U.S. tank barges and towing vessels annually. Robert is well versed in the Tank Barge Streamlined Inspection Program (TBSIP), and Alternate Compliance Program (ACP). Robert is an accredited Category 3 SIRE inspector and is a certificated ISM Lead Auditor. Robert will conduct SIRE inspections on inland and offshore chemical and oil carrying barges, inland and offshore towing/pushing vessels as well as ATB units. Robert is the General Manager for MARCOM operations.
